Joey Carter, a native of southwest Dallas, Texas, earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. Joey’s career began in the automotive engineering sector, focusing on alternative fuels after the 2008 financial crisis. As the interest in alternative fuels waned, he transitioned into the manufacturing sector, which eventually led him to a career in commercial real estate alongside Jeremy Mercer at Mercer Metals.
With a deep-rooted connection to the industrial sector—from the smells of shop dust to the sounds of machinery—Joey brings a unique blend of nostalgia and expertise to his role, understanding the significant value of industrial assets to buyers and sellers alike. His diverse career includes significant roles managing various aspects of business operations, enriched by his engineering background, which provides him with a distinctive viewpoint in real estate transactions.
Currently, Joey plays multiple roles at Matador, where he is involved in construction management, property management, and asset management. His extensive responsibilities allow him to dive deeply into the nuances of commercial real estate and private equity, enhancing his skills in negotiating and overseeing property renovations, as well as scouting new investment opportunities.
Outside of his professional life, Joey enjoys spending weekends with his wife and two children, indulging in hobbies like golfing, shooting, and tackling ambitious home improvement projects.
